PGS wins prestigious award in its first year

We’re extremely proud to announce that PGS has won the Independent Schools of the Year Outstanding Fundraising Achievement Award 2021 for our amazing #BeTheDifference Giving Day back in the spring. This is the first time this category has been awarded and saw the school competing against Bury Grammar School, Embley, Parkside School, Summer Fields and St Paul’s School for the title.

Our Giving Day successfully involved the whole school community, with more than 650 individuals making donations and many more supporting the event as ambassadors. Over £280,000 was donated for life-changing bursaries by 653 donors in 36 hours, making it the most successful Giving Day by a UK school at the time and this prestigious award recognises the amazing effort by everyone involved – thank you so much.

We remain grateful to our whole school community for help making this possible and enabling us to support more pupils than ever before through fee-assisted places. We are now well on our way to our ultimate target of providing financial assistance to 1 in 4 Senior School pupils, with more than 1 in 6 pupils now receiving means-tested support. Thanks to your generosity, over the past year we were also able to help almost 100 pupils stay in the school when their family circumstances changed due to COVID-19.

Futhermore, the Giving Day proved to be the perfect way of bringing everyone back together and celebrating the school’s heart, spirit, and culture, as we emerged from the third lockdown.

Plans are already in hand for our next Giving Day, which will be held on 15th and 16th March 2022. Watch this space!
