The autumnal sun shone down on Hilsea as former members of PGS rugby teams from 1962-64 and 1972-74 gathered together to celebrate their 60th and 50th anniversaries. The current 1st XV put on a fantastic display, beating Ryde School 46-3. After the game OPs relocated to the school site, some arriving back through the Arch for the first time since they left, where they were greeted by a spectacular display from the school Archive.
There was plenty of time for OPs to locate themselves in photos and share reminiscences before sitting down for a delicious lunch in the Dining Hall. Speeches reflected upon absent friends (ten years ago the entire 1962/3 1st XV team were able to attend) and the lifelong values instilled by playing rugby. Then it was off through the Quad for a tour of old haunts and new buildings, expertly led by Archivist John Sadden.
The 1960s group continued their celebrations in the evening with a dinner at HMS Nelson.
