With thanks to Malcolm's family

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Malcolm Harry Ralls, who passed away peacefully in Darlington on 26th June 2026, aged 85 years, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on 1st February 1941, Malcolm was a proud former pupil of The Portsmouth Grammar School. He later married Mary, also from Southsea, and together they shared a loving marriage, raising five children and building a family that grew to include eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Malcolm enjoyed a distinguished international career in Mining Finance, working in various countries around the world, including Liberia, Tanzania, and Botswana. His professional achievements were matched by the respect and admiration he earned through his integrity, generosity, and adventurous spirit.

Beyond his career, Malcolm was deeply committed to helping his local communities flourish. Through his dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve, he made a lasting positive impact on the lives of many. His encouragement, friendship, and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Malcolm maintained a keen interest in a wide range of sporting activities throughout his life. In later years, he developed a passion for bowls, representing Botswana with great pride. Affectionately known as "Grandad" within the bowling community, he played a pivotal role in fundraising efforts that helped ensure the continued growth and success of the sport throughout Botswana.

Malcolm will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal friend, and valued member of the many communities he served. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Malcolm's life will be held at St Augustine's Catholic Church, Darlington, on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at 1:45 pm.

"Forever remembered, forever loved."
